And last up at LIONHOUSE venue we have a word premiere of VERITY by performance artist Sarah Cosgrove:

Stuffed and bound into a dress, (or is it a bed?) rubbing on the ribs and like a hippo on the hips, it’s difficult to move….or breathe. Verity is stuck! With only a TV for company, something seems to shift and shape her, it’s fun, beautiful, calamitous and gross! Is verity in control, out of control or being controlled? Is this real or is it a dream, what’s the story looming in shadows? If only her heart’s desire, ( an invisible pony), could save her…

This is for anyone who is a mother, has a mother or arrived on Mother Earth through the body of a mother…Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s, The Princess And The Pea. personal and collected stories of the mothering experience and of those we mother or nurture ourselves.

Sarah says:

The work is informed by my own experience of being bed-bound with severe asthma, my fight for breath and the historical obsession with women’s body-shaping garments, (fast being replaced by cosmetic surgery and injectables) which inadvertently (or not) stifle the breath.

Don’t miss this exciting debut! Only 3 performances over 2 days – 24 & 25th May!!
