Our Team

AOD Actors of Dionysus is run by a small team of dedicated people and supported by experience held by the Board of Trustees.  AOD Actors of Dionysus works with a multitude of different arts organisations and specialist companies as well as schools, universities and societies.

  • Tamsin Shasha Artistic Director

    Tamsin is an award-winning performer, writer and director.  She trained at Oxford School of Drama, Ecole Philippe Gaulier and National Centre for Circus Arts. She co-founded AOD Actors of Dionysus in 1993 and for them has worked as producer, performer, director and movement coach

    Tamsin has collaborated on the majority of AOD Actors of Dionysus's productions working with many leading physical theatre and dance practitioners including Marcello Magni (Complicité), with whom she co-directed Oedipus, Thea Barnes (Phoenix Dance) on Medea and Antigone and George Mann (Theatre Ad Infinitum) on Helen. She co-wrote and performed in the solo aerial drama Bacchic (national and international tour) working with award-winning director Jonathan Young, with whom she co-wrote Helen. She has played many tragic and comic roles for the company including Medea, Antigone, Dionysus and Lysistrata and she directed a new version of the latter for a national tour in 2016, before directing a national tour of Christopher Adams futuristic version of Antigone 2017, also for AOD Actors of Dionysus

    Other credits include Fringe First award winning Everything I See I Swallow which she conceived, co-wrote and performed in; Uprising (Glyndebourne); Freefall (The Picturedrome, Holmfirth) Misterioso (Riverside Studios) and The Extraordinary Cabaret of Dorian Gray (West End).

    She is currently redeveloping a new semi biographical solo show called Forgive Me about autism and gaming and her own lately diagnosed ADHD.

  • Mark Katz Education Officer

    Mark trained at the Academy for Live and Recorded Arts. He has performed in many of AOD Actors of Dionysus's productions including Electra, Trojan Women, Antigone, Grave Gifts, Medea and Lysistrata. Mark designs and runs workshops for aod and other organisations in the UK and abroad and specialises in Greek drama and modern comedy.

    He devises and runs the educational workshops for aod which are designed to a teacher’s specific requirements and are ‘fun, physical and always relevant’. He also works regularly in the corporate world as a trainer and role-player. His numerous other acting credits include: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Great Expectations, The Tempest and The Jungle Book, The Mousetrap and many others.

  • Laura Plumley Assistant Producer

    Laura Plumley joined us recently as Assistant Producer/Consultant Administrator

    Laura is an actor and producer based in London. She read Classics at St Anne’s College, Oxford, and then did a Master’s in Acting at East 15 Acting School. She has produced and acted across the UK, in Oxford, London and Edinburgh. The latest film she was in had its premieres at the Cannes Film Festival and the BFI IMAX. Her latest producing work includes a queer contemporary adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, in London. She also works as a freelance Ancient Greek and Roman workshop leader, going into primary schools across the country to teach day-long interactive workshops.

    She is very excited to be working with Actors of Dionysus as a Consultant Administrator/Assistant Producer and hopes to use her skills to further AOD Actors of Dionysus mission.

  • Fay Barrett Volunteer Social Media Cordinator

    Fay recently joined us as Social Media Coordinator.

    Fay is an actor, theatre maker, writer, and content creator based in West Sussex. Fay trained as an actor at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and has worked in the West End, regional and touring theatre. Fay’s writing encompasses plays, journalism, and copywriting.

    Most recently, Fay wrote, produced and performed a solo show entitled Puck: A Fairy’s Tale (insta: @puck_a_fairys_tale) which is an origin story for Shakespeare’s most mischievous fairy.

    Fay also has over 20 years experience as a drama practitioner, and facilitator, working independently and extensively with organisations like.Shakespeare’s Globe.

    In recent years, Fay has also worked as a content creator for several theatre companies and is delighted to be working with AOD in this capacity. AOD’s fantastic body of work, both in performance, and education are what inspired Fay to become involved with this brilliantly dynamic company.
